Five years ago, on 1st of July 2015, the Digital India Programme was launched by the Government of India with a vision to transform the nation into a digitally empowered society. Digital India has been as much a boon for inclusion of citizens residing in the last mile as it has been for boosting business efficiency, attracting investments in startups as well as enabling e-governance. The impact of Digital India across sectors like Education, Healthcare, FinTech and Supply Chain are more pronounced now, more than ever before, owing to the pandemic.
The initiative has created a huge impact with the nation-wide laying out of optical fibre networks, connecting communities with one another, and linking the consumer and producer – thus opening up markets and opportunities.
To celebrate the stars of the last 5 years of Digital India and set the agenda for the next leg, CNBC-TV18 and Google has collaborated to launch Digital India – Vision 5.0 - a virtual summit that includes leaders from the government, corporate India as well as the social sector, while bringing to the fore that stories of some unsung heroes of Digital India.
