Five years ago, on 1st of July 2015, the Digital India mission was launched by the Government of India with a vision to transform the nation into a digitally empowered society. Digital India has been as much a boon for inclusion of citizens residing in the last mile as it has been for boosting business efficiency, attracting investments in startups as well as enabling e-governance. The impetus Digital India has given to sectors like Education, Healthcare, FinTech and Supply Chain is even more pronounced in today’s Covid-19-led disruption of normalcy.
Digital India went well beyond the laying out of Optical Fibre Network. It has connected communities, linked consumers and producers and opened up newer markets and opportunities. At the same time, it has enabled inclusion of the last mile – be it financial or social.
To celebrate five years of Digital India and set the agenda for the next five, CNBC-TV18 and Google have partnered to launch Digital India: Vision 5.0 - a virtual summit that brings together decision makers from the government, corporate sector as well as society to exchange ideas for India’s next wave of transformation.
