It comes early due to factors like genetic predisposition, chronic stress, poor diet, and lifestyle habits such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and lack of sleep. Environmental factors, especially UV exposure from the sun, accelerate ageing by damaging skin cells and collagen. Additionally, reduced production of essential proteins like collagen and elastin, along with slower cell turnover, contributes to early signs of ageing, including wrinkles, fine lines, and loss of skin elasticity. Addressing early signs of ageing involves a combination of skincare, lifestyle choices, and possibly professional treatments, says Noida-based dermatologist Dr Sapna Kumar. She also suggests some tips to combat early ageing:

Use sunscreen daily: Sun exposure is the leading cause of premature ageing. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every day, even when it's cloudy.

Moisturise regularly: Hydrated skin is more resilient and less likely to show signs of ageing. Use a moisturiser that suits your skin type and contains ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and glycerin.
