This pain comes on suddenly and  may feel sharp or stabbing. It can  be caused by food poisoning, indigestion, or infections like gastroenteritis.  Try resting, sipping water, and  eating bland foods. Seek medical  help if the pain worsens

Chronic abdominal pain sticks  around for three months or more. Causes include IBS, ulcers, or endometriosis. Managing stress, keeping a symptom  diary, and eating gently cooked, low-fat  meals may help ease the discomfort

This type of pain is linked to serious conditions like gallbladder disease, tumours, or long-term inflammation. You might also notice weight loss, fatigue, or nausea. Don’t ignore this kind of pain, consult the doctor

Intermittent abdominal pain comes  and goes without warning. It’s often linked to gas, gallstones, or menstrual cramps. Warm compresses, herbal  teas like chamomile, and light stretching can offer quick relief

Pain in the upper abdomen, especially under the ribs, could mean acid reflux, stomach ulcers, or even gallstones. Avoid spicy food, don’t lie down right after eating, and consider antacids, if reflux is a regular issue

Pain below the belly button is  commonly linked to constipation,  UTIs, or gynaecological issues like  period cramps or cysts. Drink more water, use a hot water bottle, and walk.  If it persists, visit the doctor

Left-sided abdominal pain is often due to constipation or diverticulitis, especially in older adults. Drink more fluids, and avoid heavily processed foods as they can slow digestion and irritate your gut

Pain on the right side can be  serious, especially if it’s in the lower  right, a common sign of appendicitis.  If it’s upper right, gallstones might be the culprit. Consult your doctor
