Causes of fatigue: Chronic fatigue, even after a full night’s sleep, may be a symptom of vitamin D deficiency. Adequate levels are necessary for maintaining energy through the day

Despite sleeping through the night, your energy seems depleted, leaving you dragging through the day.  This can signal a lack of Vitamin D. It is a fat-soluble nutrient vital for keeping bones and teeth strong, boosting immune health, and managing calcium and phosphorus levels in the body. You can get it from sunlight, specific foods, and supplements.

Here are a few health issues caused by a lack of vitamin D and what you should do:

Bone pain: Persistent pain in your bones or joints could indicate a vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is important for calcium absorption, which is essential for maintaining strong bones and preventing conditions like osteomalacia or osteoporosis.

Muscle weakness: If you're experiencing muscle weakness or cramps, it may be a sign of insufficient vitamin D. This vitamin is vital for muscle function and overall strength, and its deficiency can lead to muscle pain and decreased mobility.

Frequent illnesses: If you find yourself catching colds and infections more often, low vitamin D levels could be to blame. Vitamin D plays a vital role in immune system regulation, and a deficiency can impair your body’s ability to fight off illnesses.

Fatigue: Persistent tiredness, even after a full night’s sleep, may be a symptom of vitamin D deficiency. Adequate levels are necessary for maintaining energy and reducing feelings of chronic fatigue.

Hair loss: Unexpected hair loss can sometimes be linked to a deficiency in vitamin D. This nutrient supports healthy hair follicles and a well-nourished scalp, making it important for preventing hair thinning.

Mood swings or depression: Low levels of vitamin D have been associated with mood disorders, including depression. If you're experiencing unexplained mood swings or feelings of sadness, a deficiency might be contributing to these emotional challenges.

What you should do:

To boost your vitamin D levels, aim for at least 15 minutes of sun exposure daily or consider taking supplements. Consult your doctor.
