Algorand launches AlgoBharat to expand Web3 developer base in India

On March 29, the Algorand Foundation announced the launch of its initiative AlgoBharat in India, with the aim of building real-world utility for blockchain in the country and expanding the Web3 developer base. The company plans to establish a dedicated team in India, led by Anil Kakani, VP & India Country Head at Algorand Foundation, and Nikhil Varma, the Tech Lead for AlgoBharat. AlgoBharat will focus on three key areas in India: broadening the Web3 developer base, mentoring and investing in the Web3 startup ecosystem, and building strategic partnerships with established organizations such as non-profit organizations, government, and academic institutions. According to Kakani, the motto of AlgoBharat is "In Bharat for Bharat." The company aims to support the creation of employment opportunities and solutions that serve India's population. Kakani is confident that blockchain technology will help drive India's transition from being a service provider to leading the way in developing solutions that create a more inclusive economy. In addition, Algorand has partnered with T-Hub, India's premier innovation hub with over 600 corporate partners, including Intel, AWS, Boeing, Meta, and Microsoft. Algorand is the first layer-1 blockchain protocol to partner with T-Hub.
