Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, often referred to as Bollywood's power couple, have weathered many ups and downs together over their more than 40 years of marriage. Despite their enduring relationship, their personal lives have been the subject of public speculation for decades. Amitabh Bachchan's name has frequently been associated with several actresses, most notably Rekha, with whom rumours of an affair have persisted.
In a recently resurfaced viral video of many years ago, veteran journalist Karan Thapar recalls an interview with Amitabh Bachchan where the actor visibly shows anger later towards his wife Jaya Bachchan after being questioned about the affair rumours involving Rekha and another popular actress from the 80s and 90s.
In 1992, when the Sholay actor was about to mark his 50th birthday, Big B had appeared in an earlier episode of Eyewitness, Karan Thapar interviewed him at his earlier home Pratiksha in Mumbai along with his wife Jaya Bachchan.
In the middle of the interview, when they took a break, Amitabh Bachchan recalled watching an interview with actor Warren Beatty on American television. He explained that what made the interview captivating was the relentless questioning of Beatty about the women in his life. So taking it as a hint, Karan followed up by asking about his affairs. He asked, "There have been a lot of stories of your alleged love affairs with actresses. After your marriage, have you had an affair with any other woman?" Amitabh denied Parveen Babi and Rekha and replied, "No. never."
This line of questioning clearly struck a nerve with Amitabh Bachchan, leading to his visible frustration during the exchange.

In the video, Karan Thapar further said that after the interview when Amitabh insisted the crew to stay back for lunch and when everyone was having lunch, he was visibly annoyed and was behaving oddly with his wife Jaya, and as stated by Thapar in the video and his book, his anger was 'pouring out like lava out of a volcano".
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri's love story began in 1970 when they first met at the Pune Film Institute. Their bond deepened while working together on the set of Ek Nazar, and the couple eventually tied the knot in 1973. They are proud parents to two children, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan.
