Vivek Oberoi recently opened up about a challenging period in his career during a candid discussion at the India Global Forum in London. The actor, known for his roles in films like Saathiya and Shootout at Lokhandwala, revealed the impact of industry power dynamics on his professional journey, shedding light on the difficulties he faced due to the influence of certain powerful individuals in Bollywood.

Vivek Oberoi shared his experience of feeling like a victim in the film industry, recalling a time when his flourishing career came to an abrupt halt. "I got a lot of success, I was winning a lot of awards in my career, and suddenly it evaporated because a bunch of people, who had a lot of power in Bollywood, decided 'You are not going to work here anymore, we will make sure that happens,'" Oberoi said.

This statement highlights the systemic issues within the industry, where decisions of a few can drastically affect the careers of many.

The actor described this phase as the most difficult period of his life, filled with frustration and anger. "I experienced a lot of frustration and pain and anger and felt like a victim; and I didn't know how to deal with it," he shared.

During this tough time, his family, particularly his mother, Yashodhara Oberoi, played a crucial role in providing emotional support and guidance. "My mom is somebody I really look up to. She's my hero. And she said 'Put your attention into being a hero to someone else, and you will feel like a hero, you will feel like a winner'... the only way you can transition from being a victim to being a hero is by being a hero to someone. So you start finding someone that you can be a hero to," Oberoi recounted.

This perspective helped Oberoi to channel his energies positively and find a sense of purpose amid the setbacks. He emphasized the importance of resilience and finding strength in adversity. "I know how frustrating it is, it can make one feel extremely exhausted and tired. You feel like I've just delivered an award-winning, commercially successful performance in 'Shootout at Lokhandwala' and after that, I'm sitting at home for 14 months, not getting any work," he said, underscoring the emotional toll that rejection can take, even after significant professional achievements.

Vivek Oberoi's candidness about his struggles provides a rare glimpse into the darker side of the film industry, where talent and success can sometimes be overshadowed by power and influence. His story resonates with many aspiring actors and professionals in various fields who face similar challenges due to gatekeeping and favoritism.

Despite these hurdles, Oberoi has managed to find a way to continue his journey in the entertainment industry. He recently appeared in Rohit Shetty's web series, "Indian Police Force," which premiered on Amazon Prime Video earlier this year. Additionally, he is currently preparing for "Masti 4," indicating that he has not let past setbacks deter his passion for acting and his career aspirations.
