In a surprising turn of events, actors Siddharth and Aditi Rao Hydari tied the knot in a private ceremony at the historic Sri Ranganayaka Swamy Temple in Srirangapur, Wanaparthy district, Telangana. The couple, who had been dating for several years, opted for an intimate wedding attended by close family and friends. Their first wedding photos, set against the temple’s stunning backdrop, quickly went viral on social media.
Built in the 18th century, the Sri Ranganayakaswamy Temple is an impressive example of Vijayanagara architecture. Its design is said to have been inspired by the famous Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam, Tamil Nadu.
According to legend, King Krishnadevaraya of the Vijayanagar Empire was so captivated by the Srirangam temple that he wished to replicate its beauty in his own kingdom. After a divine dream, he discovered the idol of Lord Ranganatha between the Kothakota and Kanvayapally mountains and chose to build the temple near Ratna Pushkarini Lake.
Today, the temple draws devotees and tourists from neighbouring states such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. Its serene atmosphere and rich history make it a popular pilgrimage site, especially for weddings. In fact, the temple hosts around 300 weddings each year, as noted on its official website.
Aditi’s choice of venue held deep personal significance. Her maternal grandfather was the last ruler of Wanaparthy Sansthanam according to reports, and her family has long been connected to the temple, continuing to pray there regularly. Earlier this year, in an interview with Vogue India, Aditi had shared her plans to marry at this 400-year-old temple. “The wedding will be centered around a 400-year-old temple in Wanaparthy that is of significance to my family,” she had revealed.
