The Tamil film Thangalaan starring Chiyaan Vikram, has been performing consistently at the box office. On its fourth day of release, the film earned Rs 5.65 crores across all languages, maintaining its position as a steady performer.
The film opened on Thursday with a solid start, collecting Rs 13.3 crores in India, which included Rs 11.7 crores from the Tamil version alone. However, the film saw a significant drop on its second day, with collections falling to Rs 4.75 crores, a decline of 64.29%. Despite this drop, Thangalaan managed to recover slightly on the third day, earning Rs 5.65 crores, marking an 18.95% increase.
As of the fourth day, Thangalaan has accumulated a total of Rs 29.35 crores in India. The film's performance on Sunday (Day 4) was crucial, as it needed to maintain its momentum to stay competitive in the box office race. With an overall occupancy rate of 40.63% for its Tamil screenings on Sunday, the film managed to draw a decent crowd. The evening shows had the highest occupancy at 50.30%, followed by afternoon shows at 47.16%. The morning and night shows had slightly lower occupancy rates, at 21.14% and 43.93% respectively.
Directed by Pa. Ranjith and produced by Studio Green, Thangalaan stars Vikram Kennedy, Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Pasupathy in key roles. The film’s strong ensemble cast, combined with Pa. Ranjith’s directorial prowess, has contributed to its steady box office performance.
While Thangalaan may not have had an explosive start, it has managed to hold its ground, particularly in the Tamil market. The film’s consistent earnings suggest that it has found its audience, and with positive word of mouth, it may continue to perform well in the coming days.
Overall, Thangalaan has proven to be a resilient contender at the box office, showing that strong content and performances can sustain a film’s success even in a competitive market. As the film progresses in its box office journey, it will be interesting to see how it fares against other releases and whether it can build on its current momentum to achieve further success.
