Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan OTT rights sold for a whopping price; highest ever for the actor's film

Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagam is one of the much-awaited films of 2026. Expectations for this film are high already as this is going to be his last film, as he is all set to retire from acting and enter politics on a full-fledged note. Pooja Hegde and Mamitha Baiju are the leading ladies of the film.

According to the latest buzz, Amazon Prime has paid a surprising Rs 120 crore for Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film, Jana Nayagan. This is the highest price to date for Amazon to seal a deal for a Tamil film, which will also be released in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

The movie's Hindi version will, however, stream only eight weeks from the film's theatrical release date as the Hindi market for the star is not as big compared to the other languages.

Jana Nayagan is an official remake of the Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, which was written and directed by Anil Ravipudi.

The movie featured Sreeleela and Kajal Aggarwal as the two female leads. The film received mixed to positive reviews from critics, praising Nandamuri Balakrishna's performance and the action sequences.

Thalapathy Vijay will be entering into full-time politics and retiring from the cinemas, and this film will mark his last feature film.

The reason behind the massive hype and budget for this film is that the makers want to cash in on this project.

Considering Vijay's consistently successful track record, the filmmakers are dependent on Amazon to invest heavily in this project.

For this last film, Vijay is taking home a big fat remuneration of Rs 275 Crore, beating Shah Rukh Khan and superstar Rajinikanth. H Vinoth, the director of the film, is taking a remuneration of about Rs 20 Crore for a movie which is being made on a budget of Rs 300 Crore.

Jana Nayagan marks the second collaboration of Thalapathy Vijay and Pooja Hegde after they featured in the 2022 blockbuster film Beast.  Jana Nayagan marks Vijay's 69th cinematic venture and is set in a political action drama that is expected to feature an army backdrop.

Bobby Deol plays the main antagonist, and the film also features Premalu fame Mamitha Baiju, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Narain, and others in key roles.

Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music, marking his fifth collaboration with Vijay.

Vijay was last seen in The Greatest Of All Time, aka The GOAT, an action drama directed by Venkat Prabhu. Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is set for release on January 9, 2026.
