A number of innocent tourists were tragically killed in the terrorist attack that rocked Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, on Tuesday, April 22. Renowned sitarist Rishab Rikhiram Sharma was among the many well-known people who expressed their sadness as the nation mourned and denounced the horrifying act.
In a heartfelt show of support and remembrance, Rishab declared on Instagram on Friday, April 25, that his upcoming performance would honour the memory of those killed in the assault.
His performance was scheduled for Sunday, April 27, in Jaipur. Speaking on the incident, he said, “Sitar for Mental Health in Jaipur this Sunday will be held in the memory of the innocent lives lost in Pahalgam. Prayers. Om Shanti.”
During his Jaipur show, Rishab gave a moving homage to the Pahalgam attack victims during his Jaipur show. He played a number of poignant pieces while remaining loyal to his classical training.
Rishab Rikhiram Sharma gave a moving tribute by performing "Raga Kaunsi Kanada," a song that he cherishes for its profoundly healing and meditative qualities.
In addition to being a musical tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam attack, the raga served as a reminder of the timeless power of Indian classical music to uplift, soothe, and connect people. He was known to find comfort in it during difficult times.
Rishab was on tour in India at the time of this performance as part of his widely acclaimed Sitar for Mental Health series. On April 6, Rishab, the youngest and last student of the renowned Pandit Ravi Shankar, began the India portion of the tour in his hometown of Delhi.

He had since mesmerised audiences in Pune, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad with a soul-stirring blend of original compositions and beloved classics such as "Shiv Kailash" and "Tumhi Dekho Naa.
Following his moving tribute in Jaipur, Rishab Rikhiram Sharma will continue the Sitar for Mental Health tour, performing in a number of major cities, including Chandigarh on May 2, Hyderabad on May 4, Indore on May 9, and Bengaluru on May 11. This powerful musical journey will come to an end on May 18 when the tour's final performance takes place in Kolkata.
