Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds has recently reflected on his late father, James Chester’s, Parkinson's diagnosis and how it has also affected his mother. The actor recently attended Acadia Pharmaceuticals’ New York City panel for Parkinson's Awareness Month.

During the event, he had a conversation with People where he opened up about his late father’s disease. He revealed that his father was struggling with hallucinations and delusions, which are the lesser-known symptoms of Parkinson's.

Ryan admitted that he witnessed his father’s health struggles from different angles over the years and appreciated him even more. He said, “A man with four children, working class, dealing with a disease that is degenerative and something that will one day render him physically unable to take care of himself or others, that is going to have a profound effect on the psyche.”

The actor also emphasised the struggles of the caregivers of the Parkinson’s patient and recalled the toll the disease had taken on his mother, Tammy. He explained that there is a real kind of caregiver fatigue and a burden, like carrying a bag of rocks, where one person is responsible for caring for another as well as themselves, making it very challenging.
