Ronit Roy, one of the most respected names in Indian television and cinema, has officially confirmed that he will not be returning for the second season of the iconic TV serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The actor, who became a household name for his portrayal of Mihir Virani, clarified the rumors surrounding his comeback in the reboot.

In an interview with Etimes TV, Ronit Roy expressed both nostalgia and pride for having been part of a show that left such a massive impact on Indian television. “I’m happy that they decided to bring back Kyunki. And unfortunately, it didn’t work out for me. But of course, Kyunki is a show that has been very close to my heart,” Roy shared.

Reflecting on his long journey with the original series, Roy mentioned that he was associated with the show for eight years, a period that marked a defining chapter in his career. Despite not being part of the upcoming season, he extended his best wishes to the team and appreciated the legacy the show continues to uphold.

When asked whether he would consider returning to television with a long-format show, the actor remained candid. “I’m not averse to doing a long show or being on television for a longer time. However, as I mentioned, there is still much to be desired on television. 25 years from when I began. And the world has changed. Some need to be fixed regarding television. So, once that happens, I will likely be back. Till such time, I’m happy where I am,” he said.
Currently, Ronit Roy is seen portraying King Someshwar in Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. Over the years, he has delivered stellar performances in shows like Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kasamh Se, and Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar.

Meanwhile, the reboot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi has created a buzz among fans, with Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay reprising their iconic roles as Tulsi and Mihir. Reports suggest Mouni Roy and Karishma Tanna may also join the cast. The new season, which is said to consist of 150 episodes, is being shot under tight security.

Originally airing from July 3, 2000, to November 6, 2008, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi remains one of Indian television’s most beloved dramas.
