Fans of megastar Chiranjeevi have strongly criticised director Ram Gopal Varma's recent apology to the veteran actor, calling it insincere and "half-hearted."
Even though the filmmaker said he was sorry and even thanked Chiranjeevi in public, fans were quick to point out that the way he said it seemed to go against the spirit of the apology.
RGV posted a message that said, "If I ever unintentionally offended you..." and that set off a wave of anger on social media. Fans said that the apology sounded conditional and didn't take into account the filmmaker's past comments about the Megastar that were meant to be hurtful.
Fans Fill Social Media with Funny Replies
Chiranjeevi's fans quickly filled social media with funny and sharp comments. One fan posted a Brahmanandam meme with the words "Unintentional?"— making fun of RGV's choice of words. Someone else said, "Chiru is real to the core." It's not easy to be yourself, so it's good for you to realize it.
Thank you @KChiruTweets gaaru, Also on this occasion I want to sincerely apologise to you if I ever unintentionally offended you ..Thank you once again for your large heartedness 🙏🙏🙏 pic.twitter.com/08EaUPVCQT— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) November 9, 2025
A loyal admirer wrote, “This is Chiranjeevi — a great personality and inspiration to generations. Even those who don't like him end up bowing down to his kindness and humility.
In a typical RGV way, one user playfully turned his sarcasm against him, saying, "I hope BOSS forgives you for all the mistakes you didn't mean to make, and that you make a great movie with him on purpose someday."
Another person said, "You did it on purpose... you can't take that back, Ramu." A fan even joked in Telugu that RGV should stop using the word "unintentional" if he really meant his apology.
The Story Behind the Rift
The tense relationship between RGV and Chiranjeevi has been going on for a long time. When the Megastar came back in 2016 with Khaidi No.150, RGV tweeted, "It's 636 times mega dumb to title a film Khaidi No.150 when Khaidi No.786 came out 28 years earlier." Fans were so angry that the director had to delete the tweet and apologize.
RGV has also said some things about Chiranjeevi's brother, Pawan Kalyan, that have caused a lot of talk over the years, but his tone has gotten much softer in the last few years.
Fans Support Their "BOSS"
Even after the apology, fans are still supporting Chiranjeevi and praising his grace and humility. Many people called him "BOSS forever" and said that his character and contributions to movies are far above any criticism.
RGV's gesture may have been meant to smooth things over, but it seems to have only made things worse, at least for fans who think some apologies are too "unintentional" to be accepted.
