North America is experiencing a pre-release frenzy for superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming action entertainer Coolie, which is helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The movie has already experienced a huge 20% increase in advance reservations in just two days, with two weeks until its August 14 grand premiere.
According to the most recent data, Coolie has sold more than 24,000 tickets and earned $665,478 from more than 1,000 premiere performances. Advance sales for the movie in North America have now reached $700,000 (Rs 6.13 crore), a substantial increase from $557,700 just 48 hours earlier.
The excitement and euphoria surrounding the Rajinikanth–Lokesh Kanagaraj collaboration is evident in this quick growth. The pair has fans waiting for another big hit after the huge successes of Leo and Jailer, respectively. In contrast, Leo made $1.5 million and Jailer made $948K during their North American premiere days.
Trade experts think Coolie is on track to surpass the $1 million mark before release, joining a select group of Indian films to do so abroad, as Canadian bookings have just opened and early trends indicate encouraging numbers.
The film's star-studded cast, which includes Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and Soubin Shahir, heightens the anticipation and increases its appeal across India.
On release day, though, Coolie will have fierce competition from YRF's War 2, which is helmed by Ayan Mukerji and stars Kiara Advani, Jr. NTR, and Hrithik Roshan. Despite not having opened reservations, War 2 has already secured more than 1,100 premiere dates, indicating a significant global box office battle.
However, Coolie is currently leading the race, and everyone's watching to see how high it can rise in the days ahead.
