It was a moment straight out of a Bollywood dream when Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji came together once again — this time, not for a film, but for the promotions of Ba***ds of Bollywood, the upcoming Netflix series that marks Aryan Khan’s directorial debut.
On Monday, Shah Rukh surprised fans with an Instagram post that instantly went viral. The video showed him and Rani sharing a tender dance to Tu Pehli Tu Aakhri, a track from Aryan’s much-anticipated series. Their chemistry was seen as easy, playful and nostalgic and brought back many memories of their timeless on-screen romance that defined a generation of cinema lovers.
Shah Rukh was seen wearing a blue sweater and denims, and Rani was in a cropped white shirt with grey jeans. But it was SRK’s caption that truly tugged at the heartstrings. “National Award….hum dono ki adhoori khwaish poori ho gayi…yay…congratulations Rani, you are a queen and love you always,” he wrote, reminding fans of the deep bond the two stars share off-screen as well.
The post carried special significance — both actors were recently honoured with their first National Awards. Rani won Best Actress for Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, while Shah Rukh took home Best Actor for Jawan, sharing the award with Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail.
For fans, though, the reunion was a flood of nostalgia. Comments poured in, with one writing, “Rahul and Tina in a parallel universe,” while another gushed, “Our on-screen King and Queen are back.” The warmth between the two left many emotional, with one fan admitting, “Damnnn definitely did not expect this reunion.”
The song itself has already found favour with audiences. Composed by Shashwat Sachdev, sung by Arijit Singh, and penned by Kumaar, Tu Pehli Tu Aakhri has Shah Rukh’s seal of approval.
Meanwhile, Ba***ds of Bollywood, written and directed by Aryan Khan and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, is set to stream on Netflix from 18 September.
With a cast featuring Lakshya, Sahher, Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Anya Singh, Manish Chaudhari and Gautami Kapoor, the satire on Bollywood already has audiences waiting eagerly.
