Dulquer Salmaan is celebrating the success of his latest film, Lucky Bhaskar which released on October 31. The success event, which took place on Sunday, included director Nag Ashwin, who shared the story of how he first met Dulquer and convinced him to be a part of his hit film Mahanati.
Dulquer made his debut in the Telugu film industry with Nag Ashwin's acclaimed film Mahanati, where he played the legendary actor Gemini Ganesan. Ashwin shared that Dulquer had initially declined the role without even hearing the script, voicing his concerns about speaking Telugu and whether audiences would accept him in a language that wasn't his native tongue.
Looking back on Dulquer's remarkable journey in Telugu cinema, Kalki 2898 AD director Ashwin highlighted how the actor has continually found success and captured the hearts of Telugu audiences.
Nag Ashwin : "When i went to Chennai to narrate Mahanati, he said he can't do a telugu film because of the language problem and that he doesn't think he can do that role. After 6 years, I'm here to celebrate his hatrick blockbuster in Telugu"#DulquerSalmaan #LuckyBaskhar pic.twitter.com/RJ7Fqw0mYU

Talking about the time when Dulquer refused to work in the Telugu movie Mahanati, Ashwin said, “In Chennai, when I went to narrate 'Mahanati' to Dulquer garu, he said he couldn’t do Telugu films. ‘How will I speak the language? Will people even watch me? They’re going to be like, this guy doesn’t know the language.’ And then, cut to six years later and one hat trick later, three blockbusters later, he’s more of a Telugu superstar now than so many... So, super happy, sir, and thank you.”
