His latest venture, a solo album titled "Room Under the Stairs," showcases a fusion of R&B, Americana, and folk, with nods to his Pakistani heritage. This album marks Malik’s first release under Mercury and Republic Records, symbolising a return to artistic autonomy. Collaborating with producer Dave Cobb, Malik has taken the reins of production, crafting an album that has been in the making for a significant period.

“It started when I wrote ‘Alienated’ about six years ago. I wrote something I didn’t know I had in me. Once I unlocked that potential and realised I liked where the sound was headed, I wanted to create more. I think my daily environment helped shape the music I created and made it easy to embrace,” he said.

Unlike his previous rapid releases, Malik has adopted a more deliberate and thoughtful approach to music creation. His fourth studio album comes after a two-year break, during which he has embraced a slower pace, allowing life experiences to enrich his work. His enduring fan base has remained loyal throughout, supporting him unconditionally. This phase of his career is marked by a newfound self-awareness and contentment that is palpable both on and off set.
