KATSEYE, an exciting new global girl group formed through a collaboration between HYBE and Geffen Records, is gearing up for its highly anticipated debut. Recently, the group confirmed their debut date in a YouTube teaser that also revealed their official logo.
HYBE shared a logo motion for KATSEYE on their official YouTube channel. The logo, inspired by the Cat’s eye gemstone, represents the group's name and symbolises their upcoming journey in the music industry. The logo motion also confirmed KATSEYE's debut date, which is set for June 28.
KATSEYE is a six-member global girl group formed through HYBE and Universal Music’s Geffen Records’ collaborative music survival show, The Debut: Dream Academy (2023). The final episode of the show aired in November last year, introducing the six talented members who make up this groundbreaking group.
The members of KATSEYE hail from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities, contributing to the globalization of K-pop with their unique blend of cultures:
Manon (Meret Manon Bannerman): The eldest member, born in Switzerland.
Sophia (Sophia Elizabeth G Laforteza): A Filipina who is fluent in both Tagalog and English.
Daniela (Daniela Avanzini): From the USA, with roots in Atlanta, Georgia, and Los Angeles, California.
Lara (Lara Rajagopalan): Of Indian ethnicity, born and raised in the USA.
Megan (Megan Meiyok Skiendiel): Of mixed Chinese, American, and Singaporean descent, hailing from Honolulu, Hawaii.
Yoonchae (Jeong Yoonchae): The youngest member (maknae) and the only Korean in the group.
KATSEYE is set to make their official debut on June 28 with their first single. Following this, they plan to release a second single in July, leading up to their first extended play (EP) in August. These releases mark the beginning of what promises to be an impactful journey in the global music scene.
In addition to their musical releases, KATSEYE's journey will be chronicled in Netflix's original docuseries Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE, which is scheduled to premiere in summer 2024.
