Day after AR Rahman's separation, his Bassist Mohini Dey announces separation from husband Mark

Mohini took to Instagram and shared a long emotional post, stating that its the couple's mutual decision.

Mohini Dey, renowned bassist from A.R. Rahman's troupe, announced her divorce from husband Mark on Wednesday. The news came shortly after Rahman and his wife, Saira, revealed their own separation. Mohini shared the update on her social media, expressing her decision to part ways.

Mohini took to Instagram and shared a long emotional post, stating that its the couple's mutual decision. She wrote in the post, "Dear friends, family, fans, and followers, With a heavy heart, Mark and I announce that we have separated. First, as a commitment to our friends and family, this is a mutual understanding between us. While we remain great friends, we both have decided that we want different things in life and separation through mutual agreement was the best way to proceed."

She mentioned that the duo will continue working on their projects together and won't stop collaborating professionally moving forward. "We will still be working on several projects together including MaMoGi and Mohini Dey groups. We have always prided ourselves on working well together and that will not be stopping any time soon," she wrote.

While concluding the post seeking privacy during this tough time. "The big thing we want to wish is love to everyone out there in the world. We appreciate your support in all of the ways you have given it to us. Please honor the decision we have made by being positive towards us at this time and respecting our privacy. We would appreciate no judgements."

Mohini Dey, a talented bassist from Kolkata, is a key member of Gaan Bangla's Wind of Change. Having performed with A.R. Rahman in more than 40 concerts across the globe, she also made waves in August 2023 with the release of her self-titled debut album.

For those unversed, Music composer and singer AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu announced their decision to go their separate ways after 29 years of being toegther. They have three children together- daughters Khatija and Rahima and a son, Ameen Rahman.
