Nupur Sanon clothing brand slammed

Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon's sister, Nupur Sanon, has recently faced criticism on the internet for the prices of her clothing line, Label Nobo.

The 2024-launched brand has drawn criticism on social media sites, especially Reddit, where users are raising concerns about the exorbitant costs for what many refer to as "basic" apparel.

The most expensive kurta set on the Label Nobo website costs Rs 26,500, while the cheapest dress costs about Rs 7,000. Customers are not convinced by the brand's claims to use "premium high-quality fabrics," which leads to a barrage of criticism regarding the lack of uniqueness and quality.

The ridiculous price points of Nupur Sanons ( Kritis sister) clothing line called Label Nobo. Doesn't explain why such basic cloths are sold and such high price points. Is it money laundering of some sort ( scamming buyers)?

Nupur founded the label Nobo, which translates to "No boundaries," with support from well-known people like Rida Tharana, Uorfi Javed, Sanjana Sanghi, and Kriti Sanon herself. A variety of clothing items are available on the website, with the priciest lehenga, a Banarasi piece, costing Rs 21,000.

The cheapest set is Rs 7,700, while the most expensive suit costs Rs 26,500. The most expensive item in the western clothing category is a skirt and crop top set that costs Rs 20,000, while the cheapest item is a pair of shorts that costs Rs 2,400.

Reddit users have not held back their criticism, struggling to justify the high price tags for what they see as uninspired designs. One user sarcastically remarked, “I think her brand name is incomplete cause she clearly forgot to write Label NoboDY IS BUYING THIS OVERPRICED FAST FASHION SHIT FROM ME.”

Another questioned, “Who is going to buy at these prices even for her sister’s name?” while others accused the label of “scamming people.”

Comments such as “Ridiculous” and “Rs 750 last price” echoed the sentiment of disapproval. Some users even pointed out they had found better quality patchwork jackets in Jaipur and Jodhpur for under Rs 1,500.

One comment bluntly stated, “These are the ugliest clothes I’ve ever seen, good lord,” while another mocked the designs by saying, “Bhai yeh sab kapre Rajouri or Chandni Chowk mein dhakke khaa rhe hai. What even????”

Before moving to Mumbai to follow in her sister Kriti's footsteps and pursue a career in entertainment, Nupur Sanon worked as a management trainee at Delhi Duty-Free.

She initially became well-known when she costarred with Akshay Kumar in the popular music video Filhall (2019), which was followed by the sequel Filhall 2: Mohabbat (2021).

Nupur further established herself in the industry in 2023 by appearing in the Telugu film Tiger Nageswara Rao and making her acting debut in the comedy-drama web series Pop Kaun? on Disney+ Hotstar.
