NCT’s lineup will temporarily shrink this winter. SM Entertainment confirmed on October 30, 2025, that members Doyoung and Jungwoo will enlist in the South Korean military on December 8, fulfilling their mandatory service obligations.
According to the official statement, Doyoung will serve as an active-duty soldier in the Republic of Korea Army, while Jungwoo has been accepted into the military band after passing his audition. Both will enlist on the same day, but are expected to train and serve at separate locations.
SM Entertainment shared, “There will be no official events or fan gatherings on the day of enlistment. As many soldiers and families will be present, we kindly ask fans to avoid visiting the sites for safety reasons. Please continue to support Doyoung and Jungwoo so they can complete their service faithfully and return in good health.”

If everything proceeds as scheduled, Doyoung and Jungwoo will be discharged on June 7, 2027. Their enlistment follows that of fellow member Taeyong, who began his service in the South Korean Navy on April 15, 2024, and is expected to return on December 14, 2025. Jaehyun, who joined the military band in November 2024, will complete his duty on May 3, 2026.
With this announcement, Haechan remains the only Korean member of NCT 127 yet to enlist, while Johnny, Yuta, WinWin, and Mark are exempt due to their foreign citizenships.
Fans have expressed mixed emotions—pride in the members for fulfilling their national duties, but sadness about the group’s temporary separation. Still, with NCT’s multiple sub-units and ongoing solo activities, the group’s presence in the music scene will likely remain steady.
