BTS leader RM has sparked widespread discussion after remarks he made during a recent livestream were interpreted by many as subtly addressing Jungkook’s ongoing dating controversy.

During the broadcast, RM spoke openly about the limits of his responsibility as the group’s leader, especially now that all seven BTS members are in their 30s with independent careers and personal lives. He acknowledged that while he is aware of everything happening around the group, there is only so much he can do when it comes to situations involving another member’s private life.

RM noted that in earlier years—specifically around 2017–2018, when BTS was promoting as a fully active unit, he felt more capable of speaking for the entire team. However, he stressed that this is no longer possible.

“With this job, whenever something happens or there’s an issue, people talk about the behind-the-scenes — but I can’t really explain everything in detail,” RM said. “I can no longer represent our team on my own. I’m just one person, one human being… Each of the members became fully independent individuals, each with their own boundaries, their own lifestyles, personalities, and ways of living.”

He added that the expectation for him to manage or intervene in matters related to other members does not apply anymore.

“The idea that I should go to the company due to the members, or that I should somehow control what the members do, doesn’t really apply. There were so many times when our team was on the verge of being disrupted… so I’m extremely grateful that we’re still able to be together.”

Although RM never mentioned Jungkook or referenced any controversy directly, fans quickly connected the timing of his comments to the recent speculation surrounding Jungkook’s dating life.

Many interpreted RM’s tone as reflective of quiet frustration, or exhaustion, over being linked to situations beyond his control simply because of his leadership role.
