Speculation about a romance between actress spread quickly across social media after a photo surfaced online. The image, which appeared to show the two together, sent fans into a frenzy, but Kim Yoo Jung’s agency moved swiftly to set the record straight.
On September 20, a spokesperson for Kim Yoo Jung told Xports News, “After finishing the filming of the drama Dear X, the cast and staff, including the director, went on a team MT (membership training) trip. The photo in question was taken during that trip. The dating rumors are not true.”
What the Photo Showed
The confusion stemmed from a single snapshot shared in an online community. In the image, a woman wearing a mask is seen alongside Kim Do Hoon. Her outfit — shorts, a tank top layered with a shirt, and a green bag atop her suitcase — closely resembled an outfit Kim Yoo Jung had posted on social media back in June.
Some netizens even claimed sightings of Kim Do Hoon on a Vietnam Airlines business class flight, further fueling the dating speculation.
However, the masked woman in the photo was simply a fellow team member, according to the agency, and not an indication of any romantic involvement.
Dear X Cast Connection
Kim Yoo Jung and Kim Do Hoon have recently been working together on the TVING original series Dear X, which follows Baek Ah Jin (played by Kim Yoo Jung), a woman who dons a mask to escape hell and climb to the top, leaving a trail of “Xs” in her wake. The cast recently took a team trip after wrapping up filming, which explains the origin of the photo that went viral.
The drama is set to premiere on November 6, and both actors have expressed excitement about fans finally seeing their performances.
