Debutant Khushi Kapoor finally addresses competition and Bollywood rivalry with sister Janhvi Kapoor

Khushi Kapoor, who is currently promoting her debut film Loveyapa, has opened up about a topic frequently discussed among siblings in Bollywood: competition. The actress, who is the younger sister of Dhadak star Janhvi Kapoor, shared her thoughts on the unique dynamics of working in the same industry.

Khushi spoke candidly about the supportive relationship she shares with her elder sister and how Janhvi serves as a source of inspiration for her.

Khushi emphasised that instead of feeling competitive, she admires Janhvi’s journey and achievements, finding motivation in her sister’s hard work and dedication. The Kapoor sisters, known for their strong bond, have been vocal about their mutual respect.

When questioned about the potential for competition between her and Janhvi, Khushi Kapoor completely rejected the notion saying, “That thought is so foreign to both of us. I think it’s so strange to think that we could be competing at all,"

Khushi further elaborated on their shared support, stating that "Even if we were to be up for the same project, I think if she were to get it over me, it would be a win for me, and I think it would be vice versa. I don’t think there would ever be any kind of other way to look at it."

As someone who entered Bollywood after Janhvi, Khushi expressed how her sister’s experiences have served as a valuable guide for her.

“I mean, I definitely go to her and Dad for advice the most. I don’t think I would make any decision without their approval," Khushi stated.

Khushi further mentioned, "Whether it’s something small or big, even when it comes to my styling, she’s literally in my group with my stylist. It’s me, Janhvi, and my stylist literally deciding, you know, this outfit. We’ll send her pictures, and she’ll help me choose,"

The emerging actress expressed her appreciation for Janhvi’s support, stating, "She’s very involved in every aspect of my life, especially because I’m so new, and I feel like there’s so much experience that you have to learn from. She wants me to learn from her success, learn from her mistakes, and kind of move forward."

Khushi Kapoor is preparing for the release of Loveyapa, her debut film directed by Advait Chandan. The romantic comedy stars her alongside Junaid Khan, the son of Aamir Khan. The trailer for the film has already stirred excitement, highlighting Khushi's portrayal of a lively, energetic character who brings a contagious charm to the screen.

The storyline of Loveyapa revolves around a quirky situation where Khushi and Junaid’s characters swap phones, setting the stage for a series of comedic and romantic mix-ups. Filled with humor, romance, and entertainment, the film is slated for release in theaters on February 7.

It was also revealed that Khushi took special Bharatanatyam dance classes to prepare for her role as Baani in her big screen debut, Loveyapa.
