Sean “Diddy” Combs’ official prison release date has been confirmed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, just weeks after the rap mogul was sentenced to 50 months in prison.
The sentencing came after a well-publicized trial that resulted in a split verdict, acquitting him of charges of sex trafficking and racketeering but finding him guilty of violating the Mann Act.
On October 3, the 55-year-old artist was given his sentence, which equates to slightly more than four years in prison. Diddy is scheduled to be released from the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn on May 8, 2028, per federal prison records that E! News was able to obtain.
Because the First Step Act permits inmates to receive credit for good behaviour annually, he could serve about 85% of his sentence if he continues to behave well during his incarceration. The entire sentence will also include the 12 months he was already in custody after his arrest in September 2024.
During sentencing, Judge Arun Subramanian ruled that the prosecution’s demand for a 135-month term was “beyond what was necessary,” while the defense’s appeal for just 14 months was “not sufficient.”
Teny Geragos, Combs' lead lawyer, was unhappy with the final ruling, claiming that her client should have received a lighter sentence because she was acquitted of the most serious charges.

Two of Diddy's ex-girlfriends testified about alleged drug-fueled parties that lasted for several days during his eight-week trial, which garnered national attention. Prosecutors said that his business practices resembled a criminal enterprise and accused him of taking advantage of and coercing the women into these "freak-off" events.
Although he was cleared of the most serious accusations, the rapper and producer continues to face setbacks in his ongoing legal battles, with this latest sentencing marking another major turn in a turbulent year.
