Veteran actor and comedian Robin Williams, known for his roles in Jumanji, Good Will Hunting, and Dead Poets Society, died in 2014.
Social media has lately been flooded with AI-generated pictures and videos of Robin Williams.
However, Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda has recently asked fans to refrain from sending her AI videos of her father.
Zelda has recently taken to her Instagram Story and wrote, “Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad,” Zelda wrote. “Stop believing I wanna see it or that I’ll understand, I don’t and I won’t. If you’re just trying to troll me, I’ve seen way worse, I’ll restrict and move on.”
She continued, “But please, if you’ve got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me, to everyone even, full stop. It’s dumb, it’s a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it’s NOT what he’d want.”
She also revealed how AI is being used in the worst possible ways, condensing the careers and legacies of artists for TikTok virality, which she described as "maddening" and disgusting.
She continued, “To watch the legacies of real people be condensed down to ‘this vaguely looks and sounds like them so that’s enough’, just so other people can churn out horrible TikTok slop puppeteering them is maddening.”
Zelda added, “You’re not making art, you’re making disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings, out of the history of art and music, and then shoving them down someone else’s throat hoping they’ll give you a little thumbs up and like it. Gross.”
Robin Williams’ daughter also reaffirmed that AI only helps businesses that experiment with technology and artificial intelligence, and it detracts from the humanness of content.
Zelda concluded her post, “And for the love of EVERY THING, stop calling it ‘the future,’ AI is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be re-consumed. You are taking in the Human Centipede of content, and from the very very end of the line, all while the folks at the front laugh and laugh, consume and consume.”

Zelda has previously voiced her opposition to the online distribution and consumption of AI videos of her father.
In 2023, the director of Lisa Frankenstein referred to them as "personally disturbing" and discussed the unethical use of her deceased father's voice, speech, and body language, as he is unable to give his consent.
Notably, there are other instances of AI being misused negatively besides Robin Williams. AI videos of Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, NBA legend Kobe Bryant, and Tupac Shakur have also been making the rounds online lately.
