Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh, whose Dil-luminati tour is currently underway in India held his concert in Guwahati on Sunday (December 29), dedicated it to late PM Manmohan Singh.
Manmohan Singh, who was India's PM twice, died on Thursday following a prolonged illness.
Diljit Dosanjh shared a video from the concert where a huge picture of the late PM was displayed and he recited a few lines in Hindi. He also said that he dedicates this concert to Manmohan Singh ji.
"Today's concert is dedicated to former late Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He led a very simple life. He never used to answer back or talk ill, which is quite difficult in a profession like politics."
"Have you ever watched a Lok Sabha session? Our politicians fight like children in nursery class. Even they don't fight like our politicians. Well, I don't want to get into that. But this was the quality of Mr Manmohan Singh - he never talked ill of anyone," Diljit said.
Quoting Singh, Diljit said, "Hazaron jawabon se meri khamoshi acchi, na jaane kitne sawalon ki aabru rakhe. (My silence is better than a thousand answers; who knows how many questions it preserves the dignity of)."
He also urged the youth to follow Manmohan Singh's principles in life, Diljit further said: "You should be focused on your goal because the one who is saying negative things to you is also a God's avatar. Maybe you are being judged as to how will you be able to handle that situation."
Diljit then bowed his head to Singh and said hewas the man "who served the nation throughout his life."
He also informed the audience that Singh "was the first Sikh who had his signature on the Indian currency. It was a big achievement. So, today, I bow my head in front of a man who loved his country and spent his life serving it."
Many fans lauded the singer's gesture and took to the comment section to praise him.
A user wrote: Bohot badhiya paaji
Another user mentioned: "History will be kinder to him than the contemporary media."
A user praising Diljit wrote: "Ek hi dil hai, paaji, kitni baar jeetoge? ️ Pyaar hi pyaar, respect hi respect! "
Talking about Manmohan Singh, a user mentioned: "He wasn’t a politician. He was a humanitarian in political positions. He showed the nation the power of silent yet ambitious actions, those are the ones that matter anyway. He showed to the rest of the world what it means to be an Indian in today’s world. He’s and will always be incomparable. ️"
Meanwhile, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate also praised Diljit Dosanjh for his gesture and she wrote, "It takes one brave man to stand apart from the crowd and shine. @diljitdosanjh dedicated his concert to Dr Manmohan Singh ji—a gesture that sets him apart from most in the film industry—a bunch of cowards who did not even have the decency to condole the death of India’s former Prime Minister (sic)."
Talking about Diljit Dosanjh, he will conclude the India leg of Dil-Luminati tour with his last concert in Ludhiana on December 31st.
Diljit's India leg began from Delhi in October, post which he has performed in cities like Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Indore, Chandigarh, and Mumbai.
