On the occasion of Dev Anand’s 101st birth anniversary, veteran actress Hema Malini took to social media to share heartfelt memories of the legendary actor.

Dev Anand, known for his charm and timeless screen presence, worked with Hema Malini in several iconic films like Johny Mera Naam, Amir Garib, Joshila, and Shareef.

To honor his legacy, Hema Malini posted a series of nostalgic, throwback photos from their time on film sets together, accompanied by a heartfelt tribute.


In her post, Hema expressed her admiration for Dev Anand and fondly recalled her experiences working with him. she wrote "I have such lovely memories of Dev Saab who was in fact the hero of my 2nd big release with a top actor."

She also shared that he was the hero of her second major release, a time when she was new to the industry. "I was raw, and in awe but he quickly put me at ease and behaved as if he was a good friend. This attitude continued till the end always exuding energy that would stimulate everyone. I would never feel low or sad when he was around" she wrote.

The veteran actress further expressed how she missed Dev Anand's positive influence, noting how he could instantly lift her spirits. “His calling me “Hema!” still reverberates in my ears,” she wrote, adding "I truly loved him for the extraordinary person that he was and miss his warm presence even today, Happy birthday Dev Saab!"

Fans and fellow actors, including Jackie Shroff, poured in their respects and admiration for the actor on her post. Many fans also appreciated the chemistry shared by Hema Malini and Dev Anand in their films.

Dev Anand’s career spanned over six decades, during which he starred in numerous memorable films like Guide, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Taxi Driver, and Jewel Thief. His roles often broke new ground in Hindi cinema, from playing a smuggler in Jaal to a black marketeer in Kalabazaar.

In 2023, the Film Heritage Foundation, in collaboration with NFDC-NFAI, hosted a film festival titled Dev Anand@100 – Forever Young, celebrating the actor’s legacy. Four of his iconic films—CID, Guide, Jewel Thief, and Johny Mera Naam—were screened during the event, reminding audiences of his unparalleled contributions to cinema.

Dev Anand was not just an actor but also a writer, director, and producer. He received the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award, before passing away at the age of 88 in London on December 3, 2011.

His legacy continues to inspire generations of filmmakers and fans alike.
