Libby Boyce, the mother of Cameron Boyce, has thanked Adam Sandler from the bottom of her heart for the heartfelt homage to her late son in Happy Gilmore 2.
A small but heartfelt homage to the young actor, who tragically died in 2019 at the age of 20, is included in the sequel.
The moving scene is set up early in the film when Sandler's character, Happy Gilmore, approaches a golf course check-in booth. Behind the counter, two people are observing a small television. The screen displays a brief snippet of Boyce's work as the charming Luke Ross on the popular Disney Channel series Jessie, which ran from 2011 to 2015.
Libby Boyce took to Instagram on Sunday to acknowledge the tribute, revealing that her son and Sandler had a close relationship.
“Adam and Cameron talked quite a bit in the days leading up to his death,” she wrote. “Cameron was supposed to be in [Hubie Halloween] and they were strategising. They had a bond I think related to being authentic, funny and just keeping it real. Adam always finds a way to keep Cam’s memory alive which warms our heart.”
Continuing her tribute, she posted a second message on Monday with a screenshot from the film, simply captioning it: “Thank you @adamsandler for honouring Cam’s legacy in Happy Gilmore 2.”

Boyce played Keithie Feder, the son of Sandler's character Lenny, in the 2010 family comedy Grown Ups, which marked the beginning of Cameron Boyce and Adam Sandler's collaboration. The two reunited for Grown Ups 2, the 2013 follow-up, which strengthened their relationship even more.
Following Boyce’s sudden death — which occurred “in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition,” as confirmed by his family — Sandler has continuously honoured his memory. In addition to this latest tribute, Sandler had previously included a dedication to Boyce in the end credits of his 2020 Netflix comedy Hubie Halloween.
