BTS members V and Jungkook’s ongoing defamation case against controversial YouTuber Sojang has taken a fresh turn, with the court now pushing for a possible settlement.

As per a July 3 report by Korean media outlet Star Today, the Seoul court has scheduled a court-mediated discussion between both parties, potentially requiring the K-pop idols to attend in person.

In place of the previous plan for a full trial, the discussion is scheduled for July 21 at 9:40 AM KST (6:10 AM IST) and is intended to explore a mutual agreement. This change followed the second-level court's June 16 decision to switch the lawsuit to a settlement format. Although formal confirmation of V and Jungkook's court attendance is still pending, this session might not be exempt from personal appearances like previous ones.

Under the direction of the court, the goal of the court-mediated discussion is to assist in reaching a mutually agreeable resolution. According to Article 28 of the South Korean Civil Procedure Act, if the parties agree, the settlement will have the same legal force as a final judgement.
