Veteran actor Prem Chopra has been admitted to a hospital after struggling with a viral infection and age-related complications. However, he is now recovering well.
According to news agency PTI, Prem Chopra, 90, was admitted to Lilavati Hospital two days ago under the care of cardiologist Dr Nitin Gokhale. The doctor has now shared an update on the veteran actor.
While talking to PTI, Dr Jalil Parkar of the hospital shared, "He is a known case of cardiac ailment and he also had a viral infection, and that’s why I’m treating him for the lungs. He is not in the ICU; he is in the ward."
The doctor further added, "He has age-related issues because of which his recovery takes a little time. He should be fine in another three to four days and go home."
Meanwhile, Prem Chopra's son-in-law, Sharman Joshi, who is married to the veteran actor’s daughter Prerana Chopra, said, “All good thank you, just some tests, back tomorrow."
For the unversed, veteran actor Prem Chopra's career as a main antagonist spanned from 1967 to 1995.
During that time, he immortalised his on-screen persona with the famous line, "Prem naam hai mera, Prem Chopra," from Raj Kapoor's hit film "Bobby" (1973). This line instantly captured his menacing charm, and he continued this menacing streak opposite many top stars in important films like "Do Anjaane" (1976), the epic action-drama "Kranti" (1981), and the crime thriller "Dostana" (1980).

Later in life, he moved into character roles and demonstrated his versatility in critically acclaimed films such as "Koi... Mil Gaya" (2003), the unorthodox comedy "Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year" (2009), and more recently, "Animal" (2023), solidifying his lasting influence on several generations of Indian cinema.
He has acted in more than 380 movies over six decades.
