Designer and entrepreneur Sussanne Khan was seen arriving at the venue of her late mother Zarine Khan’s prayer meet in Mumbai, as the family gathered to bid a heartfelt farewell to the woman who was the pillar of their home.
The emotional gathering was attended by close family and friends who came together to pay their respects to Zarine, remembered fondly for her grace, elegance, and warmth.
A beloved model, actress, and interior designer of the 1960s and 1970s, Zarine was admired both for her beauty and her artistic spirit.
In a video shared by paparazzi, Sussanne was seen entering the venue in a simple yet dignified white saree with a red border, accompanied by family members. The quiet composure on her face reflected both strength and sorrow as she attended the ceremony in memory of her late mother.
Zarine Khan passed away at the age of 81, following age-related health issues. She is survived by her husband, veteran actor and filmmaker Sanjay Khan, and their four children — Sussanne Khan, Zayed Khan, Simone Arora, and Farah Khan Ali.
Zarine’s funeral was held on Friday, with her last rites performed according to Hindu traditions, a detail that sparked some speculation online about her religious background. Several reports suggested she was born into a Hindu family, while others debated the reasons for the chosen rituals.
To address the confusion, Zarine’s daughter Farah Khan Ali took to Instagram to share a touching tribute, offering clarity about her mother’s faith and life. Posting a picture of Zarine adorned with a flower garland, Farah wrote,
“My mother Zarine Khan was a very special woman. Her philosophy of life was to ‘Forgive and Forget.’”
She continued, “She was kind-hearted, loved by all her friends and family and cared deeply for one and all. She was the bond that kept our family together. Born a Parsi, married as a Muslim and cremated according to Hindu rites. She epitomised Humanity and is someone whose legacy we hope to live.”
