In a fresh turn in the ongoing legal battle over late entrepreneur Sunjay Kapur’s estate, his mother Rani Kapur has issued a strong new statement accusing his wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur, of prioritising control over his business interests rather than grieving his loss.
Rani Kapur claimed at a recent Delhi High Court hearing on Monday that Sunjay had actually 'kicked' Priya off the board of his company's holding company, AIPL, which is connected to Sona Comstar, back in March 2023.
Rani claims that Sunjay told investors at the time that "something needed to be reversed," indicating that he intended to undo past choices.
She emphasised that this contrasted sharply with Priya taking over as Managing Director less than a week after Sunjay's unexpected death in June of this year, and then quickly regaining her position as a director.
Rani further claimed that Priya moved “swiftly and strategically” to take control of Sunjay’s properties and business affairs immediately after his death, instead of mourning her husband.

Rani’s counsel asserted that the document contradicted “Sunjay’s lifelong acknowledgement that he owed everything to his mother,” adding, “If he truly intended to leave me out, he would have said so expressly.”
For those unaware, Sunjay Kapur tragically collapsed during a polo match in England on June 12 and reportedly suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. He was earlier married to Karisma Kapoor, with whom he shares Samaira and Kiaan. After their separation in 2016, he married Priya Sachdev in 2017, and the two have a son together, Azarius Kapur.
