Student of the Year 2 actor Vishal Brahma was arrested at the Chennai airport on Monday with a recreational drug, methaqualone, worth Rs 40 crore.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested the actor with the contraband when he was returning from Singapore to Chennai on flight AI 347.
According to the Times of India, the officials have caught Vishal with 3.5 kg of cocaine. DRI and Chennai Customs carried out the operation. The actor was reportedly stopped at the airport by the air intelligence officials on September 28, in the early morning after arriving from Singapore.
The customs officers found plastic bags containing white powder hidden in a fake compartment at the bottom of his trolley. Later, a field test verified that the material was cocaine.
The sources have revealed that he was reportedly roped in by a Nigerian gang. The struggling actor was allegedly lured to travel to Cambodia for the holidays. However, he was ordered to carry a trolley bag containing the drugs on his return.
The police are currently investigating and working to arrest the Nigerian gang responsible for the operation.
Previously, the Narcotics Act led to the arrest of Kollywood actors Krishna and Shrikant earlier in June. A broader connection between drug sales, a job scam, and land grabbing has been uncovered by the investigation, which started with a fight at a nightclub in early June.

Vishal was seen in Student of the Year 2, which starred Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria in the lead. He portrayed a side role in the film named Samrat.
