The cast of the popular sitcom Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai came together to say goodbye to their beloved co-star Satish Shah with tears in their eyes, causing a wave of sadness to sweep through the Indian entertainment industry.
Reminiscent of his iconic performance as the humorous and endearing Indravadan Sarabhai, the veteran actor died on October 25, 2025, at the age of 74, allegedly from kidney failure.
Emotions were running high at the Mumbai funeral. Together, Rajesh Kumar, Sumeet Raghavan, Rupali Ganguly, and Ratna Pathak Shah from Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai showed up to offer their final condolences.
They were seen comforting each other in a moving moment, their faces marked with grief and their eyes wet. More powerful than words was a video of these actors, who were once bound together by comedy but are now bound together by loss. They were grieving the loss of a close friend, mentor, and father figure who had served as the centre of their cherished program, not just a co-star.
Colleagues, fans, and friends from all walks of life came to pay their respects at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai, creating an emotional atmosphere.
Among those present were Dilip Joshi (Jethalal of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah), Jackie Shroff, Ali Asgar, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and veteran actor Tiku Talsania, who attended despite his recent health struggles.
Supriya Pathak and Pankaj Kapur, along with filmmaker David Dhawan—Satish Shah’s old friend and batchmate from the Film and Television Institute of India—were also there, standing quietly in solidarity with his family.
Satish Shah's extraordinary career garnered him a great deal of love and respect, which was reflected in the gathering of so many generations of artists.

For millions of people, Satish Shah will always be Indravadan Sarabhai, the charming but mischievous patriarch whose one-liners became ingrained in Indian popular culture.
Tributes poured in from all over the nation after word of his passing spread. Fans, directors, and actors shared heartfelt messages, funny videos, and recollections on social media.
Rupali Ganguly, who played his on-screen daughter in law, Monisha, wrote that “he wasn’t just a reel-life father, but a real one in every sense — wise, funny, caring, and irreplaceable.” Others called him the “soul of Indian sitcoms” — a title that couldn’t be truer.
