Salman Khan’s highly anticipated war drama Battle of Galwan is shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of 2026, and recent updates suggest that the team is racing towards shoot completion. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film has been in the buzz ever since Salman Khan unveiled his rugged, shirtless photos, hinting at a never-seen-before military avatar.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the film began shooting in Ladakh in September and has been progressing swiftly. “The shooting began in September in Ladakh and a major chunk of the film has been shot. The team have already filmed key challenging and action sequences. The shooting will be wrapped up in December, after which director Apoorva Lakhia will completely focus on the post-production,” the report quoted a source.
Earlier reports suggested a January or June 2026 release window, but with filming still underway, January is no longer feasible. The source added, “A January release obviously won’t be possible now. But June is seriously being considered, although the team is also looking to see if there’s an ideal release date in the months of July and August next year.”
There is a possibility of a teaser or announcement coinciding with Salman Khan’s 60th birthday on December 27.
The film also stars Chitrangda Singh alongside Salman Khan, who plays Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, inspired by the real-life officer who bravely led Indian troops during the Galwan Valley clash. The project is based on a chapter from India’s Most Fearless 3 (2022) by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh.
