Ranveer Singh–starrer Dhurandhar has set the box office ablaze with a thunderous Day 1 performance following its release on December 5. The film, along with its ensemble cast, has received an overwhelmingly positive response from both audiences and critics. But even amid the strong start, the action thriller has unfortunately fallen victim to online piracy within hours of its release.
Dhurandhar has appeared on several illicit piracy sites, where it is being distributed in a variety of formats, from full 1080p HD versions to low-quality 240p prints.
For years, Indian filmmakers have struggled with this enduring problem, and even with strict government crackdowns, new piracy websites keep popping up at the same rate as older ones are shut down.
The list of recent movie releases that have been the target of piracy is getting longer as a result of this incident. Soon after they were released in theaters, films like Tere Ishk Mein, De De Pyaar De 2, and others were unlawfully leaked.
The entire cast has received praise, despite Ranveer Singh being the film's main star. The story's patriotic undertone, the powerful performances, and Aditya Dhar's commanding direction have all been well received by the audience.
As per industry tracking data, Dhurandhar recorded a robust opening, earning ₹33.9 crore on its first day in India and nearing Rs 40 crore globally. With these numbers, it has emerged as Ranveer Singh’s biggest opening film to date.
Moneycontrol’s review of Dhurandhar highlights the film’s standout acting, stating, "Performances are among the film’s strongest assets. Ranveer Singh keeps his portrayal controlled and internal, never trying to overpower the material or his co-actors. Akshaye Khanna, as Rahman Dacait, is exceptional and once again proves his ability to disappear into complex roles with ease. R. Madhavan delivers a flawless turn as Ajay Sanyal, marked by calm authority. Arjun Rampal infuses his character with such malice and bitterness that it becomes unsettling after a point."
Beyond Ranveer, the film boasts a powerful ensemble featuring Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Rakesh Bedi, while also introducing debutante Sara Arjun to Bollywood.
