Ben Stiller and Jessica Chastain are set to share the screen in The Off Weeks, a limited series officially ordered at Apple TV+. Both stars will not only lead the cast but also serve as executive producers, marking their first on-screen collaboration since voicing characters in Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted.
The series, directed by Michael Showalter, stretches across eight episodes and comes from showrunner Alissa Nutting.
What the story follows
At the heart of the drama is Gus Adler, a writing professor played by Ben, whose divorce has left him trying to juggle fatherhood and chaos. His “on weeks” are devoted to raising his kids, but during his “off weeks,” he becomes entangled with Stella West, played by Jessica, a mysterious new woman whose presence threatens to crash his fragile balance.
The plot mixes emotional family struggles with a dangerous romance, teasing suspense that goes beyond a typical love story.

Creative team and production
Michael Showalter, who recently directed The Idea of You and The Dropout, brings his eye for both humor and drama. Jessica continues her streak of high-profile Apple TV+ projects following The Savant, while Ben extends his strong relationship with the platform after the Emmy-winning success of Severance.
Behind the camera, production is handled by wiip, with executive producers including John Lesher, Kelly Carmichael of Freckle Films, Jordana Mollick of Semi-Formal Productions, and Artists First. Dean Bakopoulos joins as executive producer alongside Nutting.
