Ashish Chanchalani adresses the ongoing controversy

YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani has finally broken his silence regarding the India's Got Latent controversy, posting his first update after weeks of maintaining a quiet stance. On Monday, March 3, 2025, Ashish shared a heartfelt video message with his fans, visibly upset but resolute.

Taking to his Instagram, he shared an emotional video in which he reassured his audience that he would face the challenging situation head-on and expressed his determination to fight through it. He also made an earnest request to his followers to continue supporting him and his work when the turmoil eventually settles down.

In the video, Chanchlani said, “Hello doston, kaise ho aap log, I know, aapke messages padhe maine, chal raha hai. Maine socha story pe aapse baat karlun lekin ab samajh nahi aa raha kya kahoon. Lad lenge situation se, dekhe hain aise tough times, isse bhi kuch naya seekh lenge (Hello friends, how are you all? I know, I’ve read your messages—everything is going on. I thought of talking to you through a story, but now I don’t know what to say. We’ll fight through this situation; we’ve seen tough times before, and we’ll learn something new from this too)."

He further mentioned, “Main bas request karta hoon aap logon se ki aap meri family aur mujhe apne prayers mein rakhna. Jab bhi main wapis aau, kaam mera thoda idhar udhar ho gaya hain. Jab bhi wapis aaya, support karna. I’ll work hard. Bas dhyaan rakho sab log apna (I just have one request—please keep my family and me in your prayers. Whenever I return, my work might have been a bit all over the place. But when I come back, please support me. I’ll work hard. Just take care of yourselves, everyone)."

In February 2025, Ashish Chanchlani took legal action by approaching the Supreme Court to either quash or transfer a First Information Report (FIR) filed against him in Guwahati. The FIR was part of a case in Assam, in which Ranveer Allahabadia is the primary accused due to his controversial remarks during a segment of the roast comedy show India’s Got Latent. Chanchlani, along with other co-judges, was named in the FIR, but his legal team has asserted that he did not make any inappropriate comments during the show.

The Guwahati High Court, while hearing Chanchlani’s anticipatory bail petition, granted him interim bail, allowing him some relief. The court instructed him to appear before the investigating officer within ten days to assist with the inquiry. This move came as a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the controversy, which sparked outrage across the country after Allahabadia made a highly objectionable remark on the show.

Chanchlani's legal team has strenuously argued that their client should not be held responsible for the remarks, clarifying that the allegations in the FIR were specifically targeted at the co-accused, with Ashish having no direct involvement in the controversial statement. His counsels also emphasised that Ashish was merely part of a panel of judges and did not make any remark that could be construed as offensive.

In addition to these legal steps, Chanchlani's supporters have rallied behind him, expressing confidence in his innocence. While the case progresses, his fans and peers in the entertainment industry have been vocal in their backing, hoping that the matter will be resolved soon, allowing him to resume his work without further hindrance. As the legal battle continues, Chanchlani remains determined to clear his name and move forward.

For the unaware, The India's Got Latent controversy started in January 2025 where Ranveer Allahbadia, the creator of the popular YouTube channel BeerBiceps, appeared on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent. During the episode, he posed a highly inappropriate question to a young contestant asking him, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?"

The remark quickly sparked widespread outrage, with many condemning it as vulgar. In response to the backlash, the video was promptly taken down from YouTube after intervention by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
