Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga is riding on the success of the film Animal. He is currently busy making a Telugu action romantic movie, AA23. However, he has recently made some remarks that have been making rounds on the internet.
During his recent appearance at film analyst Komal Nahta’s podcast, Vanga responded to IAS officer Vikas Divyakirti and said, "The way he sounded, the way he was saying, it was literally, mujhe laga ki kuch criminal kaam kiya maine (I felt as if I had committed a crime)."
He elaborated, “If you go to Delhi, get enrolled in an institute and give 2-3 years of your life, you can crack IAS. But, I can give you in writing that there’s no course or teacher that can make you a filmmaker or writer.”
He added, “On one hand, we are making movies like 12th Fail and on the other, films like Animal are making the society regressive.’ If somebody attacks you unnecessarily, you will get angry. He is an IAS officer who must have studied hard and reached where he is.”
For the unaware, Divyakirti had previously criticised the Vanga directorial film Animal on Neelesh Misra's Slow Interview. He said, “A film like Animal takes our society back by 10 years. A film like this should not be made. You earned money. You showed that your hero behaves like an animal. There should be some social value, or are people working only for financial value?”

However, the filmmaker’s statement received backlash from netizens. A social media user said, “He literally needs to shut up at this point. Everytime he opens his mouth he validates every single negative opinion people have had of the movie and it’s messaging.”
Another user said, “When will he stop whining like a child man, just end this!” Meanwhile, a user pointed out, “Any Tom Dick Harry can become a ‘Filmmaker’ but not an IAS officer. Duh even top 100 rank amongst more than a million people isn’t enough to become an IAS.”
Animal was released in 2023 and featured Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Triptii Dimri, and Saurabh Sachdeva in key roles. The film collected a total of ₹660 crore in India and earned ₹915 crore worldwide.
