Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's reaction to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack came only a week later after India and Pakistan had agreed on a truce, before India launched Operation Sindoor, a retaliation strike against Pakistani terror camps.

Aamir Khan was trolled by a section of social media users for not reacting earlier and only doing it a few hours before the launch of Sitaare Zameen Par's trailer.

He addressed the questions concerning why he brought up the attack so late in a recent interview with India TV.

He said: "I'm not on social media. People react instantly to these events there. The terror attack was cruel. It only demonstrates the terrorists' cowardice that they entered our country and fired bullets on common men. You or I could've also been there. They asked their religion and then fired bullets. What does that mean."

"If I speak about our forces delivering a befitting response, then am I doing something wrong? Should I think about the film or about our forces at that time? If I keep quiet just because my film is about to release, I feel that's wrong. So I spoke about it openly," he further said.

According to Aamir Khan, it was merely a coincidence that the trailer for Sitaare Zameen Par came out 12 hours after he made his formal declaration.

In response to the claim that his statement was made just before the premiere of his latest film, Aamir said, "A lot earlier was when the trailer was intended to drop. The assault on our nation caused me to cancel it. "That day, I decided not to air Andaz Apna Apna," Aamir stated.

Aamir Khan also spoke about an instance when veteran Manoj Kumar (died on April 4), who was also known as Bharat Kumar, complimented the actor for carrying forward his legacy of making patriotic films.

"My patriotism reflects in my work. Watch Rang De Basanti (2006), Lagaan (2001), Sarfarosh (1999). I don't think any other actor has done more patriotic films than I have," said Aamir Khan.

Aamir Khan is gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie Sitaare Zameen Par directed by RS Prasanna.
