Howrah Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Voting date, results, candidates, main parties and schedule

With the completion of the fourth phase of elections witnessing a robust 78.37 per cent voter turnout, West Bengal gears up for the fifth phase scheduled for May 20. This phase will see seven out of the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state going to polls including Howrah.

Howrah, nestled alongside the bustling city of Kolkata, stands as a crucial urban center in West Bengal. Despite being the third smallest district after Kolkata and Kalimpong, Howrah's strategic position along the Hooghly River elevates its importance. With a population of 2,112,447 as per the 2011 census, Howrah boasts a high urbanization rate of 92.96%, with a relatively small rural populace. The demographic fabric encompasses 9.04% Scheduled Castes and 0.3% Scheduled Tribes, amidst a backdrop of dense population concentration and a commendable literacy rate of 83.85%.
