UP Exit Poll 2024 Highlights: News18 exit poll predicts clear majority for NDA with 68-71 seats

According to the Election Commission of India, voter turnout in the final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections in Uttar Pradesh reached 55.60% by 8:45 PM on May 1.

Amid exit polls projecting an NDA majority in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his confidence: "I can say with confidence that the people of India have voted in record numbers to reelect the NDA government. They have seen our track record and the manner in which our work has brought about a qualitative change in the lives of the poor, marginalised and downtrodden. At the same time, they have seen how the reforms in India have propelled India to being the fifth largest global economy. Every scheme of ours has reached the intended beneficiaries without any bias or leakage."

UP Dy CM Brijesh Pathak says, "Exit polls have shown that for the 3rd time, with a huge majority, BJP is going to form the govt under the leadership of PM Modi. In Uttar Pradesh, NDA will win all the 80 seats...people have rejected the alliance of the Samajwadi Party and Congress..."

According to the Republic-PMarq exit poll, the BJP-led NDA is projected to win 69 seats in Uttar Pradesh, capturing 50% of the vote share. The INDIA bloc is predicted to secure the remaining 11 seats.

News18 exit polls reveal that the BJP is likely to win 22-25 seats in the Phase 1-3 of Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. The INDIA bloc is projected to win 3-6 seats in the first three phases of elections.

Following the completion of the 7th Phase of voting in the 2024 General Elections, the Election Commission of India expresses appreciation to all participants, including voters, polling staff, security personnel, media outlets, and political groups.

Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, said after a gathering of alliance leaders in Delhi that the BJP will not win any seats in Uttar Pradesh. He's sure that the INDIA alliance will win the most seats.

The fourth phase of voting took place on May 13. The Lok Sabha constituencies that voted were Shahjahanpur (SC), Lakhimpur Kheri, Dhaurahara, Sitapur, Hardoi, Misrikh, Unnao, Farrukhabad, Etawah, Kannauj, Kanpur, Akbarpur, and Bahraich.

Lok Sabha Election 2024 Exit Poll

In the 3rd phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections in Uttar Pradesh, there was a 57.55% voter turnout across the 10 constituencies that went to the polls. According to data from the Election Commission, Agra saw 53.08% voter turnout, Aonla 57.08%, Badaun 54.35%, Bareilly 58.08%, Etah 59.31%, Fatehpur Sikri 57.19%, Ferozabad 58.52%, Hathras 55.71%, Mainpuri 58.73%, and Sambhal 62.91%.

Voting for UP Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 3 took place on May 7. The Lok Sabha constituencies included Sambhal, Hathras, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etah, Badaun, Aonla, and Bareilly.

Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party on Friday, urged party members, officials, and candidates to remain vigilant and not be swayed by the exit polls presented by the BJP. Through a post on X, he emphasised the importance of staying cautious until the official declaration on counting day.

"Just as you have been cautious throughout the elections, similarly you have to stay outside the strong room and be alert till you get the certificate on the day of counting. They will tell that BJP is winning around 300 seats, which is completely false. They do this to demoralise you so that you become disappointed, but you should not fall for their words and on the day of counting, you have to protect the strong room and be vigilant so that no kind of rigging can take place," Akhilesh Yadav said in the post.

In the 2nd phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 26, a voter turnout of 54.83% was reported in eight constituencies of Uttar Pradesh. The Election Commission data indicates varying turnout rates across different areas: Amroha had the highest turnout at 64.02%, followed by Meerut at 58.70%, Baghpat at 55.97%, Ghaziabad at 49.65%, Gautam Buddh Nagar at 53.06%, Bulandshahr at 55.79%, Aligarh at 56.62%, and Mathura at 49.29%.

Congress has announced that its leaders will abstain from engaging in discussions regarding exit polls for the Lok Sabha elections on June 4. In a post on X, Congress leader Pawan Khera said, "Voters have cast their votes and their verdict has been secured. The results will be out on 4th June. Prior to that, we do not see any reason to indulge in speculation and slugfest for TRP."

On April 26, Phase 2 of voting took place across 8 parliamentary constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. It covered the voting for Lok Sabha seats in Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr (SC), Aligarh, and Mathura.

The final round of voting for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections is happening today, on June 1. Once voting ends at 6 PM, different media outlets will share their exit polls, predicting the election outcomes ahead of the official results, which will be announced on June 4.

In the 1st phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on April 19, around 58% of voters turned out for 8 seats of western Uttar Pradesh. In the 18th Lok Sabha Election 2024, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has formed an alliance that includes Jayant Chaudhary's Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), and Apna Dal (Sonelal). The main opposition in UP is Akhilesh Yadav and his Samajwadi Party, leading the challenge by the I.N.D.I.A. bloc, with the Congress Party as a junior partner. Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), which was allied with the SP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, is contesting on its own this time.

Uttar Pradesh has a total of 80 constituencies, with 63 being unreserved and 17 reserved for SC candidates. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led NDA won 64 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan alliance of BSP, SP, and RLD won 15 seats. The INC-led UPA managed to secure only one seat.

Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in India, holds a significant position in the Lok Sabha elections with a total of 80 seats. This makes it the state with the highest number of seats in the Lok Sabha, and thus, a crucial battleground for any party aiming to secure a majority in the Parliament.

The Lok Sabha election in Uttar Pradesh took place in seven phases from April 19 to June 1. Phase 1 voting was on April 19, Phase 2 on April 26, Phase 3 on May 7, Phase 4 on May 13, Phase 5 on May 20, Phase 6 on May 25, and Phase 7 is happening today, June 1.
