Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan resigned on March 18 and sent her letter to President Murmu. She is likely to run for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from Tamil Nadu as a BJP candidate.
Tamilisai also resigned from the post of Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. Her resignation came on a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold an election rally in Telangana's Jagtial and a roadshow in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore.
It is being said that Tamilisai might be fielded from one of three seats in Tamil Nadu, including the Thoothukudi seat held by the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Kanimozhi.
Soundararajan contested the 2019 election from this seat but was defeated. She also contested the Chennai (North) seat in 2009 and lost.
She also contested the Tamil Nadu Assembly thrice - from Radhapuram in 2006, Velachery in 2011, and Virugampakkam in 2016. She lost all three elections - the first to the DMK and the latter two to the BJP's ex-allies, the AIADMK, or the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
