Rajasthan Election Results Highlights: BJP leads on 14 Lok Sabha seats, INDIA bloc on 11 constituencies

State cabinet minister Kirodi Lal Meena reiterated on Tuesday that he would resign if the BJP loses any of the seven seats under his supervision in eastern Rajasthan. This declaration follows the current trends showing BJP ahead in 14 out of 25 seats, including Dausa. Meena had previously committed to stepping down if the BJP did not win the Dausa seat and later expanded his commitment to include seven key seats assigned to him by the Prime Minister.

Congress leads in Barmer, the second-largest Lok Sabha constituency in Rajasthan. Ummeda Ram Beniwal is winning against independent Ravindra Singh Bhati from the constituency by almost 40,000 votes. Barmer is known to have been Congress’ traditional stronghold till being constantly won by the BJP since 2014.

In the 2019 elections, the BJP's unexpected landslide victory in Rajasthan defied analysts' predictions, as it went against the common belief that the ruling party usually receives the mandate. The state experienced intense competition in various constituencies.

This year, both the BJP and Congress ran high-energy campaigns. The BJP focused on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a stable government, and national security, while Congress emphasized local issues and the shortcomings of the BJP-led central government.

However, Congress's uncertainty about Rajasthan was evident, as top leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi did not hold rallies in the state during the second phase of the campaign. Sonia Gandhi made her sole appearance in the first phase.

The vote counting for all 25 Lok Sabha constituencies will be conducted over 4,033 rounds in total. Rajsamand will have the highest number of rounds at 206, while Bikaner will have the fewest at 143 rounds.

For the first time since 1989, Congress did not win any seats in Rajasthan during the 2014 elections, as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), riding the 'Modi wave,' captured all 25 seats. The BJP repeated its success in the 2019 elections, securing 24 out of 25 seats in the state, with the remaining seat (Nagaur) going to its former NDA ally, Hanuman Beniwal's Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP).

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has nominated candidates for all 25 seats in the state. Meanwhile, Congress has declared candidates for 22 seats. Congress has also formed alliances with its I.N.D.I.A. bloc partner CPI(M) in Sikar, RLP in Nagaur, and the newly-established Bharatiya Adivasi Party (BAP) in the tribal-dominated Banswara constituency.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 24 seats, and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) won 1 seat, with a voter turnout of 67.9%. The largest victory margin was in the Bhilwara constituency, where BJP’s Subhash Chandra Baheria defeated Congress's Rampal Sharma by 612,000 votes.

Chief Election Officer Praveen Gupta declared that vote counting will commence at 8 am at 29 sites throughout the state, with all arrangements finalized. He mentioned that postal ballots will be counted first in 63 designated rooms. The counting of votes from Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will begin at 8:30 am across 235 rooms.

In the Sikar constituency, the BJP candidate is Ramswaroop Koli, while the INC candidate is Ms. Sanjana Jatav. During the 2019 Lok Sabha election, BJP's Ranjeeta Koli received 707,992 votes, defeating INC's Abhijeet Kumar Jatav, who secured 389,593 votes.

Rajasthan contributes 25 seats to the Lok Sabha, India's lower house of Parliament. These seats are crucial in the national political arena and can influence the formation of the central government. Major political parties fiercely compete for each seat to maximize their representation in the Lok Sabha.

The election in Jaipur took place successfully on April 19, 2024, with a voter turnout of 63.38%. Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is a significant constituency. Manju Sharma of the BJP is contesting against Pratap Singh Khachariyawas of the INC.

Bikaner is a key constituency in the Rajasthan Lok Sabha elections. Arjun Ram Meghwal of the BJP is running against Govind Ram Meghwal of the Indian National Congress. In 2019, Arjun Ram Meghwal received 657,743 votes, defeating Madan Gopal Meghwal of the INC, who received 393,662 votes.
