Narendra Modi Nomination Highlights: In an exclusive interview with Network18 Group, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recounted incidents from 2002 in Gujarat and how the Muslims put their faith in him to bring progress and development to the state.
Early in the day, PM Modi participated in a prayer ceremony at Dashwamedh Ghat and took a ceremonial bath in the Ganga before submitting his candidature papers. He is seeking a third consecutive term from Varanasi that will go to polls on June 1 in the seventh and last phase of the general elections.

Early this morning, the Prime Minister filed his nomination papers after offering prayers at the Kaal Bhairav temple.
PM Modi also offered prayers at the Dashashwamedh Ghat on the banks of the Ganga around 9 am.
Prior to submitting nomination papers, the prime minister, in accordance with his schedule, took a cruise to the Namo Ghat in the city.
The time for nomination was 11:40 am, which was an extremely auspicious period as it falls under the ‘Abhijit Mahurat’ and ‘Anand Yog’ as per Hindu Panchang.
At the Rudraksha Convention Centre, Modi will meet with BJP employees after the nomination process.
On the eve of submitting PM Modi's nomination papers from the Lok Sabha seat, he conducted a roadshow in Varanasi on May 13.
The two-and-a-half-hour roadshow began at the Madan Mohan Malaviya statue outside the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) main gate at 5 p.m. and travelled through several locations, including Ravidas Gate, Pushkar Lake, Assi Ghat, Shivala, Sonarpura, Madanpura, and Jangamwadi Math. Eventually, it arrived at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, where Modi offered prayers.
“Kashi is special… The warmth and affection of the people here is unbelievable,” PM Modi posted on X.
Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai is the candidate for the Opposition INDIA group.
PM Modi's winning margin was the topic of discussion on the ground on May 13 as BJP supporters chanted "Jai Shri Ram," "Har Har Mahadev," "Humar Kashi, Humar Modi," and "Phir ek baar Modi sarkar."
2014 & 2019
When PM Modi campaigned for office in Varanasi in 2014, he received almost 3.37 lakh more votes than his closest opponent, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal. At that time, the constituency had a 58.35 percent voter turnout.
In 2019, PM Modi's lead against Samajwadi Party candidate Shalini Yadav grew to 4.80 lakh votes in Varanasi, while election participation was 57.81 percent.
