BJP-led NDA is set to form its third successive government at the Centre. The saffron party has 240 MPs in the lower house while its allies have 52. On the other hand, the opposition bloc INDIA has 234 members while the remaining 17 are non-allied. But do you know how many of these MPs are first-timers or women? How educated are they, and what is their past work experience?

The debutants: The new Lok Sabha will have 280 first-time MPs. That's more than 50% the strength of the lower house. Meanwhile, there is only one MP who will be serving a record 7th term - TR Baalu of DMK who has won again from Sriperumpudur.

Past stints: As many as 262 members have previously served as members of the Lok Sabha. Out of these, 216 are those who are part of the outgoing Lok Sabha and have been re-elected.

Work experience: Nearly 50% of the new parliamentarians are social workers. And 37% are involved in agriculture. Only 2% have served as government workers in the past.

Turncoats: As many as 9 MPs who have been re-elected were part of a different political party in the previous Lok Sabha.

Younger Lok Sabha: The average age of the new Lok Sabha is 3 years less than the outgoing Lok Sabha. It's 56 compared to 59 earlier. A majority of MPs are in the age bracket of 41-70 years.

Varying degrees: A majority of MPs - over 420 - have completed schooling.

The gender gap: As many as 74 members are women.This is just about 14% of the total strength. That is fewer than the outgoing Lok Sabha, which had 78 women MPs.
