Dharmendra Pradhan has been appointed as the Minister of Education in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government. The Cabinet details were revealed on June 10, a day after the ministers took the oath along with PM Modi.
Pradhan served as Minister of Education and Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in the Government of India from 2021 to 2024.
Pradhan won the Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat by defeating Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate Pranab Prakash Das by more than 1.19 lakh votes.
Before taking charge of the education ministry, Pradhan was Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas and joined as the Minister of State (In-charge) in 2014. Subsequently, he was promoted to the cabinet rank in 2017 and was also given the Skill Development & Entrepreneurship ministry.
In the Modi government 2.0, Pradhan was retained in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.
